Has anyone ever tryed to replace a head gasket on a mid 80's Ford compact? I have a small leak coming from the head gasket, towards the back of the engine and it doesn't seem like it would be too hard to replace. Any recommendations or tips would be appreciated.

I truely appreciate the different philosophies of compact tractor ownership. I am a mildly frugal person that needs a pretty good reason before I buy anything. I haven't heard any definitive reasons for why I should buy the TC18. I have to admit that power steering, a front end loader that is easy to remove, and a mower that is not a afterthought, make a hard sell that is hard to ignore.<br>Where does 1000 hrs fall on the lifespan of a compact desiel engine? Do hydrostatic transmissions ever have bad stuff happen to them after so many hours? Does this stuff last forever if maintained properly? This are the things I am trying to base my decision on.

It sounds like you guys have a lot of knowledge about 3pt tillers. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on what manufacturer, model, and size tiller I should purchase for my Ford 1210? I would also like to get any feedback on price, and a place in upstate New York where I might purchase one.
